This shows you a few of the tree decorations we have for sale at the shop right now. So many of them will add that whimsical look to your tree.
I don’t know about you, but I have been putting up so many themed trees in the past years, and my favourite part of doing this is getting all the ornaments out of the Rubbermaid containers at which time remembering the places I bought them, the people who gave them to me and who I was with when buying them.
Some of my favourite ornaments are the ones I have had for many years, given to me by family, friends and students at the school I used to work at. I can’t quite understand people who change their ornaments every year, to match the “trends of the time”.
Enjoy decorating this season
We have a lot of knit hats in the shop right now, for sale. Considering they are hand knit, prices are vey good. When you look outside right now, the time has come for a nice warm hat to be a necessary part of your wardrobe. It is cold!!! Brrr.
We are building up our collection of buttons in the shop right now. The collection is growing every week. Enjoy!
It is looking a lot like Christmas at Village Creations right now!
In a couple of weeks I will be bringing in some vintage ornaments for sale. Over the past few years I have put up and decorated as many as seventeen trees of different sizes in our home, and find it is not as easy as it used to be, so will be starting to “downsize Christmas” around our place. Our shed is full of Rubbermaid containers full of ornaments - would you believe 50+ !
It is time!
The last two sweaters we have knit in the shop for you inspiration! The first one is knit from Ultra Denim but can also be knit from Big Softee.
The lovely mauve one is knit from Aaran that comes in a huge ball, big enough for this sweater. Enjoy!
One of the “hot” crafts right now is FELTING! In the shop, we have made up items to give you inspiration, great books and Kits from Woolpets.
In the kits you will find the needles and roving that you will need to complete the kit. You will have to buy a felting pad or use a very thick sponge you may already have. I have the supplies needed for you to complete a project you may want to design on your own.
You will find it a fun project!
Been getting more and more books into the shop to help give you some inspiration in your knitting! Here are only a few of them.
I just got a few kits in from Knit Picks in past day. Putting them out in the shop today, so hope you get a chance to come in to see them. I will be making up my own kits for the fall also.
What you will see :
Double Twist Cowl with merino and silk yarn
Scarf and Hat set with merino and silk yarn
Starry Stole with Merino yarn and beads
Hat, gloves and scarf set with Merino and alpaca
Beautiful scarf set from wool and nylon combination
The yarns all feel wonderful and think any one of the kits would be a wonderful gift, either as a kit or knit up by you.
Can’t believe it’s been so long since showing you what is new in the store! It has been a very busy summer, with company, shopping trips to buy new stock and going through orders from wool companies.
Now that fall is definitely in the air, it is time to get back on the computer. My husband and I just got back from the beautiful Kootenay area of British Columbia where I met Susan Chamberlain, owner of Riverstone Yarns. She and her husband dye and spin their own yarn. Bought a few balls to bring back to the shop, so if you want to see them, come on in for a visit. I will be ordering more soon. I will be ordering worsted weight and bulkier. Can`t wait to knit up a pair of wrist warmers, seems like the time of the year for it!
Just a few of the new yarns to come into the shop lately. I get new yarns in regularly and can order most things you would like. Just let me know. Lots of patterns for you to peruse and many knit items to give you inspiration. Enjoy.
It is with great sadness that we announce that Kathy’s husband Alf passed away this morning. He will be missed by us all at Village Creations.
I am sure a lot of you can relate to this sign. There are some great items in the bins, all at discounted prices from what I paid in the first place - Shhhhh. Enjoy!
I spent time today, while at the shop, unpacking yarns from my buying trip to Diamond Yarns a couple of weeks ago.
The first one is Chaiten - 100% silk - 309.9 yards with 22 stitches for 4 inches on 4 mm. needles.
Second yarn shown is Liwen, again from Araucania. It is 50% superfine alpaca and 50% wool. 118. yards with 14 stitches per 4 inches on 6 mm.
Next comes Huasco which is 100% extra fine merino - $25.95 per ball may seem expensive, but you get 450 yards! gauge is 29 st. to 4 inches on 3.25 needles.
And last but not least is Linalo from On Line. 48% viscose, 42% linen and 10% cotton. 26 stitches per 4 inches using 3.5 - 4.5 mm needles and 92 meters per ball.
They all feel so wonderful! Enjoy!
I am trying to get more accessories into the store these days, with different sets of needles, buttons, both older and new, craft kit for a beginner etc. If there is anything you would like to see in the store or want me to order something for you, please let me know.
This is a beautiful scarf, the feel of the yarn is wonderful. It was knit from stella. Just perfect for the spring and summer weather we are eventually going to get!
